Makeup Tutorial Video *UPDATED*

Image
I posted the video to youtube so you can watch it now:  Hello friends, I ran into plenty of issues with this assignment, so unfortunately it will not be posted on here. Davinci Resolve refused to download to my computer. After filming the video it would not upload to my iMovie on my computer so I had to edit it on my phone. It did not provide me with time stamps while editing so, I was left with a small square for a video and 5 min and 11 sec of footage, I did not want to go back in and try to cut all the little pieces to make it shorter. I finished editing on TikTik so I could easily add music and a voice over, however once I saved the videos I realized the music would only play for up to a minute. So theres a lot of silence throughout. I then put the two clips back into iMovie, as TikTok can only edit up to 3 min (which would have been perfect if I got my video down to 3 min), and I combined my two clips into one.  The effort was there... and I am not entirely upset a...

Davinci Resolve

Hi friends, For our last major assignment in the class we will be using Davinci Resolve to create a video tutorial. I have been waiting for this one!!! I had always dreamed of starting a YouTube channel, and I still hope to some day... something along the lines of travel videos. I have made many travel TikTok videos of short trips here and there during school breaks. Investing in a camera and final cut pro is something I hope I am able to do one day! For this assignment... since I'm not going on a trip beforehand, I thought I would go back to where my dreams to start a YouTube channel started. And that was with makeup tutorial videos. I never mustered up the courage to start making videos... and that was probably a good thing to save myself some embarrassment in the future. But now I am so excited to be able to do it for this assignment! I have edited some things on iMovie before, and as I stated before TikTok. But I am going to try and give Davinci Resolve a go and see if I can po...

TinkerCAD

Image
Hi friends, These past couple weeks we have been learning about the program TinkerCAD. What I like the most about this program is that it is accessible from all platforms. I was struggling with downloading the software for previous programs we have used. The training was super helpful and I found it really easy to use. I think it would be a fun program to work with for most age groups. I mentioned how this could be applied to education in my previous blog on Design Thinking.  Once I decided on how I wanted my keychain to look it was super quick to design. I played around with colours (although I know it can be difficult to print multicoloured designs). See the picture below! Peace + Love, Ki

Design Thinking and Tinkercad in the classroom

Hello friends, This week a watched a guest presentation from Jared on design thinking and using Tinkercad in the classroom. I had no idea what Tinkercad was before this presentation, or that it was associated with 3D printing. I knew that some schools were getting 3D printers, but I never thought about how I would incorporate them into lessons. Jared gave a great presentation on how to get students thinking about design and creating engineers for the future. His design thinking model involved empathy, and I like how he related this aspect of the model not only to design, but as a social skill for teenagers to develop. Thinking about others is an important concept in designing something useful. Jared also discussed how Tinkercad could be useful in designing concepts from any subject. Not everything designed on Tinkercad needs to printed, it can be a great tool to bring ideas to life, while also implementing knowledge in measurement. Jared showed us the stages of design thinking, from te...

Major Assignment #2: Images

Image
Hi friends! Here are 3 photos I have edited using GIMP! These were taken this past summer on a road trip through BC. I tried to use a variety of tools to match the vibe I wanted to create for each photo...enjoy! This first photo was taken in Victoria BC, China town. I did quite a bit with this photo to give it a vintage film/fish eye lense look. I adjusted the color levels to add more black, and the blue channel to give it a cool tone. I increased the shadows and decreased the highlights, however I added the white point adjustment. I also increased the saturation slightly to bring out all the colors. In filters...-> enhance -> sharpen, I increased the radius and amount to sharpen the details. Lastly, I created a new transparent layer for a vignette. This gave the fish eye effect once I adjusted it to my liking and lowered the opacity. This photo was taken on a beach in Ucluelet. In the layers mode I selected multiply, and the result instantly made the colors in the image vibrant....

Audacity Training

Hello friends, This past week I completed the Linkedin Audacity training. I immediately thought that this would be a great tool to use for students with a visual impairment, or learning disability. You could record audio lessons for students to refer to or use for learning.  It also reminded me of recording music when I was younger on the voice memos app. Or voiceovers for school projects such as videos and presentations. For the audio assignment I would like to create a podcast. I'm not quite sure what it will be about yet. But I am going to formulate a few topics this week and I want to record it with my friend Savannah. I have always thought it would be cool to start a podcast but never had the courage to try it out, so I think this assignment is a great excuse to play around! Peace + Love, Ki
