Davinci Resolve

Hi friends, For our last major assignment in the class we will be using Davinci Resolve to create a video tutorial. I have been waiting for this one!!! I had always dreamed of starting a YouTube channel, and I still hope to some day... something along the lines of travel videos. I have made many travel TikTok videos of short trips here and there during school breaks. Investing in a camera and final cut pro is something I hope I am able to do one day! For this assignment... since I'm not going on a trip beforehand, I thought I would go back to where my dreams to start a YouTube channel started. And that was with makeup tutorial videos. I never mustered up the courage to start making videos... and that was probably a good thing to save myself some embarrassment in the future. But now I am so excited to be able to do it for this assignment! I have edited some things on iMovie before, and as I stated before TikTok. But I am going to try and give Davinci Resolve a go and see if I can po...

TinkerCAD

Image
Hi friends, These past couple weeks we have been learning about the program TinkerCAD. What I like the most about this program is that it is accessible from all platforms. I was struggling with downloading the software for previous programs we have used. The training was super helpful and I found it really easy to use. I think it would be a fun program to work with for most age groups. I mentioned how this could be applied to education in my previous blog on Design Thinking.  Once I decided on how I wanted my keychain to look it was super quick to design. I played around with colours (although I know it can be difficult to print multicoloured designs). See the picture below! Peace + Love, Ki

Design Thinking and Tinkercad in the classroom

Hello friends, This week a watched a guest presentation from Jared on design thinking and using Tinkercad in the classroom. I had no idea what Tinkercad was before this presentation, or that it was associated with 3D printing. I knew that some schools were getting 3D printers, but I never thought about how I would incorporate them into lessons. Jared gave a great presentation on how to get students thinking about design and creating engineers for the future. His design thinking model involved empathy, and I like how he related this aspect of the model not only to design, but as a social skill for teenagers to develop. Thinking about others is an important concept in designing something useful. Jared also discussed how Tinkercad could be useful in designing concepts from any subject. Not everything designed on Tinkercad needs to printed, it can be a great tool to bring ideas to life, while also implementing knowledge in measurement. Jared showed us the stages of design thinking, from te...
