Hello friends, Today I am discussing Google Slidesssss. In class this week we were presented two presentations. One with text only, and the other with text and pictures. Personally, I benefit from the use of images when it comes to learning because I am a visual or kinesthetic learner. I tend to zone out reading or easily become confused by instructions. If I get a new piece of furniture I never read the text on the building instructions, I only follow the images. I think pictures add more aesthetic to the presentation, and make it usable for all types of learners. However, it is important that the text matches the images and it is clear and concise. You do not want to confuse the learner by giving them text instructions that do not go with the corresponding images. I have never used the speaker notes on a presentation before. I assume that if you're presenting a topic you must be confident in your expert knowledge, and you can go off slides as well. If you're someone that get...

Hello friends, Today I'm going to be discussing the Instructional Design (ID) models we learned about in this weeks class. Keep in mind I have never heard about these types of models before, and I think in general they all provide great frameworks for creating lessons. The Gagnes 9 Events model seems to me like your typical cut and dry lesson planning model. Going through each of the 9 points reminds me of typing up a lesson plan. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great tool for doing just that! I think it does well in preparing you for instruction. However, I think it lacks the perspective of the students. The ADDIE model is comprised of 5 parts that emphasize's designing instruction for the students rather than just for the learning. It involves analyzing the students before getting into the design which recommends using an objective domain (cognitive, psychomotor, affective). You can decide this based on where your students are at with the learning; if they're ge...

Hello friends, My name is Kianna and I am from Saskatoon! I am 22 years old and in my 4th year of education, and I have yet to complete my practicum. I aspire to live and work in BC. I love snowboarding, surfing, and skating. After this semester I plan to move to Whistler with my boyfriend for the snow season, and then see about buying a van and tree planting for the summer (and hopefully return in the fall to complete my practicum). From there we will see where the wind takes me...maybe finding home in BC or teaching overseas. Some cool things about me... I took a year off uni to live in Australia for 9 months (I love travelling). I play soccer, and my favourite most recent hobby is shuffling (put the D back in EDM). I have a brother that's nearly 8 years younger than me. I just recently moved back in with my parents to save some money before moving to the mountains, plus I missed my dog. She's a cute little miniature schnauzer with separation anxiety. The main things I di...
